The School was inspected by Ofsted in May 2015. At that time the inspector found that the School was 'inadequate'. The school is constantly seeking to develop and improve and has subsequently addressed the issues identified by the inspector in a recently completed Action Plan and has also passed 2 Safeguarding inspections by Devon County Council. Additionally, the Trustees have issued the following statement:
'We are extremely disappointed with the report from our recent Ofsted inspection. We were inspected using criteria that are more commonly applied to larger independent schools and the inspector does not seem to have been able to make adjustments for our small size, limited resources and holistic approach to educating our students. Whilst we readily admit there are areas in which we can improve we are upset and somewhat confused to see that elements of our human-scale approach to education that were singled out as strengths, and in some cases outstanding, in the previous Ofsted inspection (2012) are now judged as weaknesses. Our ethos and practice has not changed in the intervening time and we are at a loss to understand how the opinions of two separate inspectors can be so widely different.'
