Lou Griffiths - Latin, Classics & Literacy support

Head shot of LouI qualified as a teacher in 1987 and worked in multicultural primary schools in Birmingham for seven years before moving to Devon with my growing family. As my children grew I worked in the village preschool as a supervisor before becoming a yoga teacher. My involvement in teaching at the Small School began with a chuckle over my son starting to learn Latin in this most unlikely of places. I gradually became involved in teaching Latin and Classics as our previous Latin teacher became unwell and then moved on to carry on her own education. As a primary trained teacher and home educator I have always had a "let’s find out together" attitude towards teaching. I believe that it is essential for children to see their own teachers in a learning situation and that by being open to learning new things ourselves we are best placed to help our students to be curious and follow their own passions and interests.

I have always been passionate about education and learning and have been very lucky to work with children and adults in such varied settings.
